Teach your child how to spit!

Sound crazy? Not really. If a child or, for that matter, any person gets lost, the best thing they can do as they try to find their way back is to spit on the ground every 10-15 feet. In fact, I suggest that during a normal hike a person spit on the trail at frequent intervals. Why? Because if law enforcement calls in tracking dogs, the "saliva scent" will give the canines a very strong trail to follow. In fact, in a test, a canine unit was able to find a person hiding in the basement of an 8 story uninhabited building just by following a "saliva scent" provided by a tooth print. (More about those in another posting.) So teach your kids how to spit.
