Got extra water?

One of the first things you learn as a coach is that no matter what the sport- soccor in the fall or baseball in the spring/summer - children can dehydrate very quickly. Give them frequent water breaks. It also gives them a chance to catch their breath: do you know child that will stop for a second because he/she is tired? They just want to go go go.

But occasionally a member of the team would show up without a bottle of water. So I've developed a habit, whether I'm coaching or not, of throwing an extra couple of bottles of water in my sports knapsack and handing them out to kids who forgot to bring one from home. both kids and parents who forget really appreciate it.
