Kids-Snow -Leaves

Several weeks ago a young girl was killed in Brooklyn when she was playing in a snow bank in the street. A snow plow came by and hit her. The driver didn't see her. It's not his fault. He wasn't looking for a child playing so close to the edge of the street. The same thing can happen in the fall. Kids love to play in piles of leaves, cover themselves up, and hide. Sometimes they do it in the pile of leaves at the curb. A car rushes by, sometimes going into the mound of leaves piled up never realizing that someone is in there. It's nobody's fault. But that doesn't mean that the results aren't tragic. Tell your kids to stay off the streets and if they want to play in the leaves or snow, make a pile in your front yard far enough from danger. It'll take you a few more minutes to move it out to the curb or street when they're exhausted and have gone inside, but I think it's worth it.
