Walking the Field

A good idea before the first ball game of the day at a field is to have a coach or parent walk the field, whatever the spot, and look for litter that can be damaging. People often carelessly throw garbage onto the field while walking across it which can injure players. I've found pieces of glass, sticks/pencils, etc. It also gives you a chance to check for new holes dug by animals which can twist an ankle if a players steps into it.
